How Shopping Small Makes A Big Impact

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

We're big on supporting small businesses. As previous owners of a small business ourselves, we know firsthand that it's not an easy endeavor. Behind every small business is a community of people keeping those doors open. We are so incredibly thankful to our community for supporting us in our journey for over a decade. Now we want to give back.

Starting now, we will be featuring local small businesses on the blog every week. We'll tell you the story behind the business: who runs it, what they bring to our community, challenges they've overcome, and goals they have for the future.

When you shop small, you make a big impact on your local community. We think it's pretty straightforward why you'd want to support small business, but if you're curious - here's a few reasons why we think you should #shopsmall and #buylocal this year (and always).

Support Your Local Community

When you shop small, your money goes back into the community you live in. Your hard-earned money goes to an active participant in your economy, not a billionaire CEO.

Create Local Jobs

When you purchase from a small business, your dollars help create jobs for your neighbors. Small businesses have provided more than 66 percent of all new jobs since 1995.

Preserve Community Charm

Almost every city has a Mcdonalds or a Walmart. But the local businesses you see on your streets? Those are what make your city unique. Small businesses add character, charm, and value to our communities.

Unique + Sustainable Gifts

Many local businesses offer one-of-a-kind items that you just wouldn't find on Amazon. They give you the opportunity to support local artists and makers while giving someone a meaningful gift they'll never forget. Smaller businesses also have less overhead and a much smaller carbon footprint.

Impeccable Customer Service + Care

With bix box stores, you're just another dollar sign. With a small business, every customer matters. Small business owners will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, accommodate your needs, and help you find exactly what you're looking for.

How To Support Small Businesses

  • Check your local small business for items you need before purchasing from Amazon

  • Follow them on Social Media and interact with their posts (share, like, etc.)

  • Share this post (and others like it) to help spread awareness
